Step 1. Make a list of supplies which you might need to survive for an extensible period of time.
Step 2. Decide on a location to make a shelter to survive in. The optimal shelter should be under at least 8 - 10 feet of ground and have adequate ventilation and waste recepticals. The shelter should also have a way to be powered by an outside source (and by and inside source should the one outside fail).
Step 3. Practice evacuation plans and emergency prepareness techniques in order to get into the shelter and seal it up in a timely fashion.
Step 4. When the time comes, be in the shelter. Monitor radio stations or any outside source for up-to-the-minute news on whatever is going on outside. DO NOT GO OUTSIDE UNTIL THE DANGER IS WELL PAST.
Step 5. When the time comes to go outside, be prepared for the unexpected. Defend your resources at all costs necessary to keep you alive.
Step 6. If all else fails, place head between legs and kiss your ass goodbye.
GOOD LUCK :-)
